Blue Future Project

The Blue Future project is a comprehensive environmental initiative focused on the protection of marine ecosystems and the sustainability of Omega-3 sources.

Orzax’s ongoing project, launched to mark World Omega-3 Day each year, aims to highlight the inseparable link between environmental health and human health.

In the first phase of the project, a coastal clean-up event held at Karaburun Beach in 2024 saw 107 kg of waste collected and recycled, marking a concrete step towards combating marine pollution.

In 2025, the focus of the second phase shifted from the shoreline to beneath the water. Organised as part of World Omega-3 Day on 3 March, this phase concentrated on the sustainability of marine ecosystems and fish stocks. Attention was drawn to the damage caused by seabed pollution to marine life in order to protect healthy sources of Omega-3. The underwater imaging studies and limited-scope seabed clean-ups carried out during this period reinforced the fact that the project was not merely a clean-up initiative, but a scientific and ecological awareness project.

Blue Future Project

The third phase of the project, launched in 2026 under the name “Blue Trail”, expanded the initiative to a broader scale. This phase, carried out to mark World Omega-3 Day, involved a partnership with Adalar Municipality, the Marine Clean Association/TURMEPA and the Association of Underwater Photographers and Filmmakers (SUFOD).

During this period, the focus was particularly on cleaning up abandoned fishing nets—known as ‘ghost nets’—which threaten marine biodiversity on the seabed. These waste materials, retrieved from the seabed by specialist divers, were not merely removed through physical clean-up; they were also transformed into an awareness-raising project. The ghost nets and other waste retrieved from the sea were transformed into a sculpture by artist Büşra Kölmük, presenting the scale of the pollution to the public through the visual language of art. With this holistic approach, the Blue Future project continues to both protect ecological balance and raise social awareness for a sustainable future.
